Alex Norton is a Scottish actor.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Norton expressed an interest in acting from a young age, making an appearance in the series Dr. Finlay's Casebook aged 14. He began working in the theatre as well, founding the touring company "The 7:84" Company, but became best known for his television work, including Taggart and. The Renfield Rejects. He appeared in the original pilot of Blackadder as McAngus, Duke of Argyll, and reprised the role in the series proper.
Norton also appeared in a number of major blockbusters, including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Braveheart. In addition to acting, he also directed a number of stage productions and has won several awards for television writing.
Norton has only one musical credit in his career - providing backing vocals on the soundtrack to the film Brave, which his wife featured in - as it required authentic Scottish vocalists as a chorus.
