Dakin Matthews is an American actor and director.

BiographyEdit

Born Melvin Matthews in Oakland, California, after initially aspiring to be a priest, he studied and taught at Juillard and the American Conservatory Theatre and made theatrical appearances as Warwick in Henry IV and C.S. Lewis in Shadowlands. He went on to make a number of television guest appearances, including in Dallas and Murder She Wrote.

He was also involved in behind the scenes roles in the theatre, serving as an Artistic Director and a founding member of both The Acting Company and The Bridge Project.

SingingEdit

Matthews' sole singing credit onscreen was as King William in The Swan Princess, in which he sings the song "This Is My Idea." On stage he took the role of Joe in the stage musical Waitress.
