BiographyEdit

Born in London, England, the son of actors Raymond Massey and Adrianne Allen, he studied at Eton and Cambridge and made his film debut in 1942, though his breakthrough role would come in both the stage and screen versions of The Entertainer. Massey would become a well-known face in British cinema, appearing in such productions as Mary Queen of Scots and In the Name of the Father and television roles such as Reverend John Hale in The Crucible.

However Massey was best known as a stage performer, appearing in Shakespearian works including Measure for Measure and Love's Labours Lost as well as Ronald Harwood's Taking Sides. He passed away in 1998.

Though best known for his straight dramatic roles, Massey made a number of musical appearances, originating three leading roles on stage, Charlie in Make Me an Offer, Georg Nowack in She Loves Me, and Gaston in Gigi.
