David Thewlis is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Blackpool, Lancashire, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and made his first television and stage appearances shortly after.

Thewlis gave his first major film role in Naked and proceeded to make a number of feature film appearances, including playing the antagonist in Dragonheart and gaining a British Independent Film Award for Divorcing Jack.

In 2004 he was cast as Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series, his most lucrative film role. He also gained positive acclaim for his role in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and as a director for Hello, Hello, Hello.

Singing[]

Thewlis gave his sole singing performances in Only Fools and Horses (as Stew the rocker) and in James and the Giant Peach playing the perpetually worried Earthworm.
