Deborah Kerr was a Scottish actress.

Biography[]

Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, Kerr initially trained to be a ballet dancer before becoming a stage actress, joining the Oxford Repertory company. She made her breakthrough in her West End debut, playing Ellie Dunn in Heartbreak House.

Kerr soon branched out into films, playing multiple roles in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and soon becoming renowned in Hollywood for her roles in From Here To Eternity and later The King and I. Kerr eventually abandoned films to return to theatre, though she later made an Emmy award winning appearance in A Woman of Substance.

Kerr passed away in 2007.

Singing[]

Kerr's only singing role was in The Sundowners, where she sang "Botany Bay" with Peter Ustinov and Robert Mitchum.
