Billy Boyd is a Scottish actor.

Biography[]

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Boyd graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and went on to appear in the detective series Taggart and films such as Urban Ghost Story before his most successful role as Peregrin "Pippin" Took in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Boyd would also appear in such films as Seed of Chucky and stage productions as Macbeth where he played Banquo in 2013. He was also a musician in the band Beecake, as well as performing on Viggo Mortensen's album Pandemoniumamerica.

Singing[]

Boyd sang a number of times in his role as Pippin Took, namely the drinking songs "Hey Ho, to the Bottle I Go" and "The Green Dragon" and the mournful self-penned ballad "The Edge of Night" (he would later sing the closing song in The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.)

Boyd would also go on to originate the role of Davie in Sunshine on Leith.
