Denis Lawson is a Scottish actor.

Biography[]

Born in Crieff, Perthshire, Lawson studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and made his stage debut in a production of Metamorphosis in 1969. He later gained recognition onscreen as Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Lawson frequently appeared on television, notably as John Jarndyce in Bleak House, Hornblower and Jekyll. He also starred in a number of stage plays, and directed a 1999 production of Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuchs.

Singing[]

Lawson performed in a number of stage musicals, portraying Joey in the 1980 London revival of Pal Joey and Jim Lancaster in the later revival of Mr. Cinders.

Lawson also originated the role of Horner in Lust and portrayed Georges in La Cage Aux Folles.
