Junius Matthews was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Matthews served in World War One before becoming a silent film actor and later appearing on radio, notably appearing as The Tin Woodsman in an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. He would often appear in radio roles in westerns and made several uncredited film appearances in the 1940s.

In later years, Matthews became recognised due to his association with Disney, playing Archimedes the Owl in The Sword in the Stone, and Rabbit in Winnie the Pooh.

He passed away in 1978.

Singing[]

Matthews only sang during his role as Rabbit in the Winnie the Pooh series, specifically Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, where he sang "Hip-Hip Pooh-ray."
