Ernie Sabella is an American actor and voice actor.

Biography[]

Born Ernest Sabella in Westchester, New York, he studied at the University of Miami, where he also performed at the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre. He made frequent appearances in stage musicals and appeared in such films as Quiz Show and In and Out.

Sabella's best known role came when he performed the voice of Pumbaa in The Lion King series. He made a number of television appearances on such shows as That's So Raven and The Practice, as well as making guest appearances on Quantum Leap and Blue Bloods.

Singing[]

A frequent performer on both stage and screen, Sabella appeared in the original cast of The Robber Bridegroom before singing a number of times in his role as Pumbaa in The Lion King series, most notably performing "Hakuna Matata" with Timon.

Sabella also appeared in a number of major musical revivals on Broadway, playing Marcus Lycus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha and Herman Minksoff in Sweet Charity.
