Albert Finney was an English actor.
Biography[]
Born in Charlestown, England, Finney graduated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, before making his first appearance in a 1958 production of "The Party" and first film appearance in The Entertainer with Laurence Olivier, who he had previously understudied. While he subsequently became known as an "angry young man" before acheiving acclaim in Tom Jones.
Finney continued to work on both film and stage, notably playing Hercule Poirot and twice received Tony Award nominations for his stage work in the 1960s, later turning down a CBE. He continued to play supporting roles to critical acclain, including in Erin Brockovich, Big Fish and Skyfall.
Finney passed away in 2019.
Singing[]
Finney has sung several times in his career, beginning with "Hey Ho, The Wind and the Rain" in The Picasso Summer. However these later grew into larger roles, beginning with the titular character in Scrooge and Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks in Annie. He also played the role of The Judge in a special production of Pink Floyd's The Wall.
Many years later, Finney sang part of the opening quartet in Corpse Bride, where he laments the necessity of marrying his daughter to the son of a nouveau riche fish monger.
