Elijah Wood is an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wood began acting at school and was also a choir boy. He made his acting debut at the age of nine and quickly became established as a child actor, gaining critical acclaim for his roles in Avalon and The War.

Wood's defining role came when he was cast Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film series (a role he would reprise for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. As a video game and comic book enthusiast, Wood also played a number of voiceover parts, including Mumble in Happy Feet, and Spyro in The Legend of Spyro series. He also worked on occassion as a producer, andset up his own record company, named Simian Records.

Singing[]

Wood sang briefly in two of his early films; singing "You Are My Sunshine" in Forever Young, and a portion of "If I Were a Rich Man" in North.

He also played percussion and piano for Viggo Mortensen's album Pandemoniumfromamerica, and sang on two of the tracks.
