Gemma Jones is an English actress.


Born in Marylebone, London, Jones studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and became known after a string of television appearances, including Kenilworth where she played Queen Elizabeth I, and The Duchess of Duke Street as the lead, Louisa Trotter. She also appeared in a number of acclaimed theatrical productions, including After Aida, and The Merchant of Venice as Portia.

In her later career, Jones became known for her screen appearances, including blockbuster series' Bridget Jones and the Harry Potter series. She also appeared in an acclaimed international tour of 'Richard III, playing Queen Margaret.


Jones' sole singing role came with The Duchess of Duke Street, where she sang a number of song snippets, including "It's Alright in the Summertime" and "Keep the Home Fires Burning".
