Hermione Baddeley was an English actress.
Biography[]
Born in Broseley, Shropshire, Baddeley began her film career in the 1920s, and was also a successful stage actress, her acting skills being praised by George Bernard Shaw. She often worked with Noël Coward, to particular success in Fallen Angels.
In 1959 she received an Academy Award nomination for her role in Room at the Top, and a Tony Award for The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore. She also appeared in the television series Maude and Little House on the Prairie.
Baddeley passed away in 1986.
Singing[]
As well as stage appearances such as the revue Floodlight, Baddeley had brief singing appearances in two roles, as Ida Arnold, the self appointed sleuth in Brighton Rock, and as Ellen the maid in Mary Poppins. She did have a duet recorded for The Aristocats, but it was cut from the final film.
