Hy Anzell was a American actor.

Born in New York City, Anzell became known as a comic actor, and his background led to him frequently being cast as strongly Jewish comic characters. He appeared in the original play version of Yentl, and often starred in Woody Allen films, most memorably as Uncle Joey in Annie Hall.

Anzell passed away in 2003..

Anzell made a handful of musical appearances on stage, playing the seedy director Mike Rosenthal in the 1971 piece Stag Movie. However, his best known stage role was that of Mr. Mushnik in the original cast of Little Shop of Horrors
