James Fleet is an English actor.
Biography
Born in Staffordshire, Fleet joined the Aberdeen university dramatic society and later studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Drama and Art. Beginning his career on stage with the RSC, he was recognised nationally for his appearance as Tom in Four Weddings and a Funeral and on British television as Hugo in The Vicar of Dibley.
Fleet has appeared in various theatrical, radio, film and television productions often playing awkward but polite British authority figures. Notable roles include Sense and Sensibility, Death Comes to Pemberley and the foppish Dr. Alfred Prunesquallor in the radio adaptation of Gormenghast.
Singing
In 2002, Fleet performed his sole singing role, as the bumbling but good-natured Alderman Fitzwarren in the ITV pantomime Dick Whittington.
