Ken Howard is an American actor.

Biography

Born in El Centro, California, Howard attended the Yale School of Drama and left to make his Broadway debut in a non-singing role in Promises, Promises. He soon won a Tony Award for his role in Child's Play and began to make a number of television appearances including The White Shadow and Adam's Rib (where he played the lead.)

Howard would continue to be prolific in television (with a regular role in Murder, She Wrote and guest parts in The West Wing and Golden Girls) as well as major films including Rambo and Michael Clayton. He was the last President of the Screen Actors Guild before it merged with the American Federation of Television and Radio Arts.

Singing

Howard appeared in a number of stage musicals, notably the original cast 1776 (where he reprised his role as Benjamin Franklin for the film).

He also played the role of Jerry Ryan in Seesaw and The President in the original cast of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
