Lester Matthews was an English actor.


Born Arthur Lester Matthews in Nottingham, England, he began work as a character actor in such horror films as Creeping Shadows, Werewolf of London and The Raven. Roles would later increase in size, including that of Sir John Utterson in Son of Jekyll and the Archbishop of Tyre in King Richard and the Crusaders.

Matthews passed away in 1975.


Matthews made his sole singing appearance performing "Fidelity Fiduciary Bank" as the banker Mr. Tomes in Mary Poppins.
