Mel Gibson is an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Peekskill, New York, Gibson studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney before his casting in Mad Max in 1979. He thus became best known as an action star with roles in Lethal Weapon and Payback, but also appeared in dramatic roles in The Bounty and Hamlet as well as onstage in Waiting for Godot.

Gibson also became well known for his career as a director, which included the Academy Award winning Braveheart (in which he played William Wallace) and The Passion of the Christ. He also performed voice roles in Pocahontas, Chicken Run, and played himself in The Simpsons.

Singing[]

Gibson sang most notably in Pocahontas (which included the cut duet "If I Never Knew You") as well as singing along to "The Wanderer" in Chicken Run.
