Pam Ferris is a German born British actress.

Born in Hanover, West Germany, she emigrated as a young girl to New Zealand and first began to perform in theatres in Auckland, before moving on to regional theatre following her move to Britain.

In Britain, Ferris slowly became popular for her television roles such as The Darling Buds of May, which led to her being memorably cast as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda. Though she appeared in a numbdr of other films, including the Harry Potter series, it was television, for which Ferris is best known, later gaining another key role as Sister Evangelina in Call the Midwife.

Ferris made her only singing performance in Jackboots on Whitehall, where she joins in with a stirring rendition of "Jerusalem" as the English troops engage the Germans.
