Phil Daniels is an English actor.
Biography[]
Born in Islington, London, he studied at the Anna Scher Theatre School and appeared with the band Phil Daniels and The Cross. He made his film debut as a waiter in Bugsy Malone and continued to appear in such films as Scum and Quadrophenia, in which he played Jimmy Cooper, as well as making a notable appearance as Sam Weller in the BBC's serialised production of The Pickwick Papers.
Daniels also onstage in The Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta, amongst others, played Kevin Wicks in EastEnders and provided the voice of Fetcher the Rat in Chicken Run.
Singing[]
As well as releasing the album Phil Daniels and The Cross with his band and providing the spoken narration for Blur's Parklife, Daniels also sang in a number of musicals, playing Jigger Craigin in the 1992 London production of Carousel, Mr Lockit in The Beggar's Opera and Thénardier in Les Misérables.
He provided lead vocals for "Playing in Schools" in The Class of Miss MacMichael and "Free Rock N' Roll" in Vinyl.
