Ron Howard is a film director and actor.


Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, Howard (like his brother Clint) began his career as a child actor in such television series as The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and The Twilight Zone. He also notably appeared in the film American Graffiti and played Richie Cunningham in Happy Days.

In 1977, Howard made his directorial debut and soon after became recognised for Night Shift. This would be followed by such films as Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon. His daughter is actress Bryce Dallas Howard.


Howard sang the role of Winthrop Paroo in the 1962 film The Music Man. He also sang on the television series The Andy Griffith Show and several times in his role on Happy Days.
