Roy Kinnear was an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Wigan, England, Kinnear studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and went on to join Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop, leading to an appearance in both the stage and screen versions of Sparrows Can't Sing.

Kinnear would appear in a large number of television programs including That Was the Week That Was and George and Mildred, as well as several major motion pictures such as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and Richard Lester's Three Musketeers series. It was during the filming of the latter that he passed away following an accident with a horse in the year 1988.

His son was fellow actor Rory Kinnear.

Singing[]

Kinnear only made two notable singing performances, playing the role of Fred in the original London cast of Make Me an Offer and singing "Tiddly Widdly Winky, Tiddly Winky Woo" during a guest role on Metal Mickey.
