Sigourney Weaver is an American actress.


Born Susan Weaver in Manhattan, New York, she studied at Yale University School of Drama and made an early appearance in Annie Hall and a number of Off-Broadway productions before a high profile part as Ellen Ripley in Alien, a role she would reprise on a number of occasions. In 1988 she received two Academy Award nominations for Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl respectively.

Weaver appeared in a wide variety of films, both dramatic and comedic, including The Ice Storm and Galaxy Quest, and voice roles in WALL•E among others.


Weaver has accrued a handful of singing credits in her varied career, beginning with a rendition of the classic duet "Baby It's Cold Outside" on Saturday Night Live. She also sang briefly in several of her films, notably performing "Back in the U.S.S.R" in Heartbreakers.
