Stephen Rea is an Irish actor.

Biography

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Rea trained at the Abbey Theatre School and was a member of the Dublin Focus Company before becoming widely recognised for his Academy Award nominated turn as Fergus in The Crying Game, one of several works he collaborated on with Neil Jordan.

Though best known for his numerous film appearances, including Interview With a Vampire, Michael Collins and V For a Vendetta, Rea was also a frequent collaborator with Sam Shepard, and was the voice of Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams whilst he was under a broadcasting ban during the Troubles.

Singing

Rea made his sole singing role on stage in High Society playing Mike Connor. The production was noted for its casting of non-professional singers in the leading roles.
