Steven Berkoff is an English actor.


Born Leslie Berks in Stepney, London, Berkoff studied at a number of arts schools and trained at Her Majesty's Theatre in Barrow-in-Furness before working as a playwright (with such works as The Metamorphosis, Shakespeare's Villains and Sink the Bismark!) and director, notably putting on a production of Salome in 1988.

Berkoff also appeared in a number of films, including as the crazed Soviet General Orlov in Octopussy, a police officer in A Clockwork Orange and attorney Dirch Forde in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. He also provided a voice for the award-winning animated short Expelling the Demon.


Berkoff made his sole singing appearance in the 1996 production of Cabaret, in which he portrayed the Emcee.
