Uma Thurman is an American actress.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Thurman was initially a model before making her film debut in 1988, appearing shortly after as Cécile in Dangerous Liaisons. She would achieve major recognition for her role as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, gaining an Academy Award nomination. She played Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin shortly before taking a break to concentrate on motherhood.

Thurman's career relaunched with her leading role in Kill Bill, during which time she also restarted her modelling. A number of critical failures followed, though Thurman's own performance was frequently singled out for praise. She later received praise for roles in the television series Smash and the motion picture Nymphomaniac.

Thurman made her singing debut in 2005's The Producers as the Swedish bombshell Ulla, who sings several big numbers, notably the solo "When You've Got It, Flaunt It". She also sang a number of times in her role as Rebecca Duvall in Smash.
