William Hootkins was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Dallas, Texas, he performed at the Theatre Intime and studied at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts before making his screen debut in 1973's Big Zapper. He would go on to play memorable supporting roles in such films as Star Wars: A New Hope, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Batman as well as television roles including playing Winston Churchill in The Life and Times of David Lloyd George and appearing in both The West Wing and Blackadder.

Hootkins also worked as a voice actor, playing Dingodile in Crash Bandicoot: Warped and Lucifer in the stop-motion picture The Miracle Maker, and had great success as Alfred Hitchcock in the stage play Hitchcock Blonde.

Hootkins passed away in 2005.

Hootkins sang briefly as the sinister Lincoln Wineberg Jr. in Hardware, performing "The Wibbly-Wobbly Walk."
